GROWTH HABIT: Perennial evergreen shrub.

LEAVES: Consist of three 1/2 inch long rounded leaflets.

STEMS: Up to 10 feet tall, mostly erect, stiff, angled and dark green stems.

FLOWERS: Bright yellow, pea-like, 3/4 to 1 inch flower, borne in angle between leaf and stem.

ROOTS: Taproot and lateral roots.

SEEDS: Pods are brown and black, smooth and flat with white hairs, contain several shiny green-brown seeds.

REPRODUCES: By seed and lateral roots.

HABITAT: Roadsides, disturbed areas, pastures and native grasslands.
