2015 Missoula County Master Gardener

 

 

This application is for individuals interested in pursuing the Missoula County Master Gardener Program. This 12 week course will be held on Tuesday evenings beginning February 10th, running concurrently until April 28th. The number of applicants is limited to the first 30 PAID registrants, and will close February 3rd. The fee for the course will be $150, which includes the course manual. A $50 rebate will be offered to those who complete 20 hours of volunteer service before the end of the year (December 31st, 2015). Twenty hours of volunteer service and an 80% or above on the final exam will be required to become a certified Master Gardener.

One of the earliest bees to emerge in the spring, the Blue Orchard Mason Bee (Osmia lignaria) is an important pollinator of furit trees. Join us for an evening as John Holbrook shares some information about this important native polinator, and ways that you can encourage this beneficial insect to your garden. The program itself is FREE of charge, but John will be providing Orchard Mason Bee Motels that will be available for purchase at the event.

The workshop is free of charge, but please register as space is limited.

Farmer's Market and Local Food Promotion Program, Grant Writing Workshop

The Regional Rural Development Centers in cooperation with the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) have developed workshop materials and resources focused on improving the funding success rate of applicants to USDA AMS grant programs, specifically the Farmers Market Promotion Program (FMPP) and the Local Food Promotion Program (LFPP). Montana State University Extension is participating in this project, and offering this training program to assist individuals and organizations in their efforts to secure AMS resources to further the provision of local foods. This training is FREE to all participants, but please register as there is limited space.

Three workshop will be held at the Missoula County Extension office on April 27th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Lunch will be on your own.
